Customization of UI & Addons Empty Customization of UI & Addons

Customization of UI is amazing. You can choose where you want your main bar to be from the heath bar to the mini map.

Addons, make some horrible players to decent ones, I have no problem with that but I vote for FF to not allow Addons. I have seen this with players

who are too depending on Addons, once there is none, from Healing to DPS, their just horrible and that I can not tolerate.

I would like FF to have Addons, but restrict what there is, maybe not make it so that the public can make Addons.

Square could make their own "Addons", or "Optional UI Features" like maybe a simple + Advanced UI Mode.

Yes, I do not mind them giving optional UI features which I would like since it gives you the freedom on how you want your OWN UI. However, I am still against Addons all the way. You will have to give me a good reason on why they should?

FF will only listen to what players are requests which remember listening to retarded players who are QQ all the time leads to the MMO going down hill.

okok, I always enjoyed actually useful addons in WoW, such as a threatmeter and cooldown timers, perhaps something to make the Auction House or Crafting system better.

I did not however like all those that changed PvP/PvE into the "Hello Kitty goes to Littlewoods" Game, changing fonts, automating as much as possible adding stupid sound effects and overall changing the game.

This is why if they allow adons I think they should restrict them to Square-only customizations, if they cant id happily sacrifice all Addons to keep it nice.

They rather go with allowing or not allowing. I do not think they will be capable of restricting on which Adds on players are allowed to use. If they allow Square addons, I am sure players will be capable of creating their own adds.

Including that if they want to restrict in some way, they will probably need more employs which will require more money put into it. Remember, Square is still a business company.

Haha, UI modifications and addons will be an enormous factor in how fast this site develops on release. WoW database sites like Wowhead and Thottbot were able to gather information quickly through addons or programs that gathered information from the game and stuck them in their database. I hope FFXIV will allow me to do this and maybe release an addon for other players to use to help the database grow.

Other than that though, I think UI modification is a very neat aspect of MMOs. It helps customize your playing experience a bit and it allows players to disable UI elements they don't like that could have caused them to quit the game. I vote for it!

What about Addons? I read through your comment that you are in favor of UI modification, but no claim of Addons.

When it comes down to it I think I'm fine with UI mods that make superficial changes to the UI (like change font colors, button positions, and such). However, I'm opposed to these crazy UI mods people make that basically play the game for you. Just give me hot keys and a UI that's pleasing to the eye.

We seem to be at a consensus. Let us change the way the game looks, to suit our different tastes, but please don't tempt us with addons that automate anything.

One thing WoW still allows, which I disagree with, is NOT task automation, but BRAIN automation. I get frustrated every night, when we take a wipe (and lose 15-20 minutes if not more), because some healer's HEALBOT crashed, or the Main Tank's 800 blinking light addons that tell him what spells/moves to cast and when, are causing him to lag out... I wonder why.

    Make players learn to play!
